Myrna Laverne Swiney

Myrna Laverne Wood Swiney, age 77, of Taylorsville passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Frye Regional Medical Center. She was born in Patrick County, VA on June 30, 1942, the daughter of the late Murray and Lillian Annabella Cockram Wood. During her career, she worked as a manager at Sears and was a member at The Chapel Church - Hickory. Myrna had a heart for serving God and her family, especially her two grandsons. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Myrna has a vibrant personality, and never met a stranger. She also had a heart for missions. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Jackie Swiney; and sisters Glenda Wilkinson & Cheryl Bowman.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 58 years Jack Lee Swiney of the home; daughter Rosanna Whisnant & husband Douglas; and grandsons Turner & Conner Whisnant all of Bethlehem.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Cockram Cemetery in Meadows of Dan, VA with the Dr. B. Dale Watts officiating. A family led service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm at The Chapel Church – Hickory with the Dr. B. Dale Watts officiating.
