Ray Claude Fox

Ray “Claude” “Poppy” Fox age 91, passed away at Catawba Valley Medical Center Thursday May 12, 2022. He was born to the late James Arthur and Pearl Etta Pennell Fox in Alexander County on February 3, 1931. During his working career he drove a transfer truck for several different companies including Alexander Trucking Company, Zenith, and most of all at Champion. Claude enjoyed deer hunting, storytelling, wrestling, Braves Baseball, and most of all he enjoyed his family and his church Oxford Baptist Church in Conover, NC. Including Claude’s parents, he is preceded in death by the love of his life for 57 years, wife, Colleen Bradshaw Fox, infant daughter Marian Elaine Fox, son-in-law Ed Shook, granddaughter Jessica Shook Palinski, brothers: Wilford Fox, George Fox, Floyd Fox, Odell Fox, Jack Fox, sisters: Hazel Keller and Ella Mae Stephens. Those left to cherish Mr. Fox include a daughter Susie Elder (Billy), son Andy Fox (Cathy), daughter Judy Shook, daughter Scottie Marley (Jeremy), daughter Dana Gilbert (Joey), brother Fred Fox, sisters: Nettie Ann Cline (Walt) and Rosalee Cantrell, ten grandchildren: Ginny Elder (Jamie), Tammi Gales, Monica Bradshaw, Jason Fox, Courtney Sigmon (Eric), Ashley Bolch (Roc), Kyle Helms, Joey Lee Gilbert Jr. (Debbie), Taylor Chapman (Brett), Kasey Gilbert, nineteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and special friends. Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Service Saturday May 14, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Oxford Baptist Church in Conover, NC Sunday May 15, 2022, at 4:00 pm. Mr. Fox will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Rev. Joel Frye and Evangelist Andy Fox will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Oxford Baptist Church at 5965 Springs Rd Conover, NC 28613. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service.
