Alice Elizabeth Fox Lail, age 90, born on August 29, 1935, in Burke County, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at Trinity Ridge in Catawba County. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be remembered for her unwavering love for family and community.
Alice made significant contributions to her community through her career as the owner of STAR Furniture, where she left a lasting impression on many. A dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church, Alice was passionate about her faith; she loved singing in the choir and took pride in writing ‘The Living Christmas’ at Antioch, a beloved tradition still celebrated today. She also wrote and performed the ‘HaHa Show’ with the seniors at Antioch.
She cherished her time shared with family and friends, often reflecting on how her grandchildren brought her joy, saying, "they're making happy" when they would bake and make a mess. Alice enjoyed various hobbies, including playing music and singing with The Sweet Adelines, line dancing, and baking. Her enthusiasm for life was evident, exemplified by her proud accomplishment of completing a 5k mud run at the age of 78.
Alice is survived by her children, Stanley Lail (Judy), Tamara Sides (Todd) of Mooresville, Steven Lail, and Scott Lail (Sheila). She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren: Jeff Lail (Meghann), Andrea Little (Scott), Kira Orcutt and fiancé Richard Hicks, Christopher Lail (Hayley), Alexandra Dean (Luther), Justin Lail, Joshua Lail, William Sides (Kaelynn), Dawson Lail, and Grayson Sides (Tiffany). Alice also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way, as well as a number of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Fox; her beloved husband Rudy Lail, with whom she shared nearly 70 years of marriage; her daughter Teresa Walker; and all of her brothers and sisters.
Her memory will be honored with a visitation and funeral service held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Antioch Baptist Church located at 580 Antioch Church Rd, Taylorsville, NC.
