Allen Lynn Bowman, age 92, affectionately known as Lynn, was born to the late Lorenzo L. Bowman and Lillian Blanche Johnson Bowman on December 4, 1932, and left this world on July 31, 2025. Lynn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose life was marked by his unwavering faith, commitment to his family, and remarkable talents.
Lynn dedicated over 31 years to the art of woodcarving at Sipes Carving and spent 40 years in the furniture business, showcasing his meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. Beyond his professional pursuits, Lynn found joy in gardening and was known for being very prepared and precise in all aspects of his life. He was an active member of the Freedom Independent Baptist Church in Granite Falls, North Carolina, where he cherished the close-knit community and built lasting relationships. As a devoted follower of Christ, Lynn had a profound understanding of the Bible and shared a deep love for Jesus, guiding his family and friends with his spiritual wisdom. Lynn was an ordained deacon and knew how to defend his faith at all times.
Lynn was a man of humor and kindness, known for his personable nature and loving demeanor. He was a product of the Great Depression, which shaped his values and instilled in him a strong work ethic. His devotion to his family was limitless; he held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-granddaughters, whom he loved dearly.
Lynn is survived by his beloved wife, Naomi Bowman; his sons, Steven Bowman (Lisa Baril) and Timmie Bowman; his brother, Bruce Bowman; and his grandsons, Brian Scott Shook and wife Michelle Babaie Shook and Phillip Scott Bowman and wife Morgahn Hastings Bowman. He also leaves behind two cherished great-granddaughters, Sasha Rae Bowman and Seraphina Rae Bowman, along with a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Lynn is preceded in death by his first wife, Sadie Geraldine Smith Bowman; his daughter, Felicia Bowman; and his brothers, Claude, Ernest, Paul, Hal, and Clarence Bowman. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ethel Shook, Ruth Clontz, Hazel Dagenhart, and Mable Barger.
A visitation will be held in honor of Lynn on August 6, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM, both taking place at the Freedom Independent Baptist Church, located at 2224 Satterwhite Circle, Granite Falls, NC 28630. Pastor Jobie Borders will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will accept flowers.
Lynn Bowman's legacy will live on through the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His love, humor, and unwavering faith have left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.
