Alma Jean Payne

Alma Jean Payne, age 93, a cherished attendee of the Parson of the Hills Christian Outreach, passed away peacefully at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation in Wilkes County on April 19, 2026. She was born on March 23, 1933, in Rowan County.

Alma Jean's life was marked by a quiet strength and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. She found great fulfillment in gardening, where she lovingly tended to her plants, and she embraced the spirit of adventure through her travels, which brought her many treasured memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Washington Payne and Emma Sue Flowers Payne, her sisters, Katherine and Betty, as well as one infant brother.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at this time.

Her life, marked by gentle faith and a passion for the outdoors, reflects the values she held dear throughout her years. Alma will be remembered with respect and affection by all who had the privilege to know her.
