Bobbie Gilbert Ferguson, age 88, a manager in the banking industry and a devoted member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home in Alexander County on April 17, 2026. Born on October 30, 1937, in Lincoln County, Bobbie Jean led a life marked by dedication, both to her professional career and her beloved family.
Throughout her working years, Bobbie broke barriers as she helped pave the way for women managers in the banking sector. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was deeply engaged in volunteer work, proudly contributing her time and efforts to the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross, organizations that benefited greatly from her generous spirit and compassionate nature. As a member of Reformation Lutheran Church, Bobbie found strength and solace, contributing to the spiritual life of her congregation.
Bobbie was a lifelong learner and valued education. She attended Fred T. Foard High School and earned an associate degree from Kings Business College, foundations that supported her successful career and community involvement.
Family was at the heart of Bobbie’s life. She cherished the time spent with her loved ones and was known for her warmth and unwavering support. She is survived by her son, Andrew Ferguson of Taylorsville; grandchildren Erin Skaryak and Christopher Skaryak, both of Charlotte, and Audrey Ferguson of Taylorsville; and her sisters, Bettie Cooke and Terrie Carmichael (Ed). She is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Wilson Gilbert and Janie Florence Goins Gilbert; her husband, Guy William Ferguson; and her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Ferguson Skaryak.
A visitation to honor and remember Bobbie’s life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service, located at 193 NC-16 in Taylorsville, NC 28681. Followed by a graveside service at Three Forks Baptist Church Cemetery. Rhett Miller will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carolina Caring Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658.
Bobbie’s legacy is one of professional achievements, heartfelt service to her community, steadfast faith, and deep love for her family. Her memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
