Bruce Vernon Clontz, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, NC. Born on Saturday, November 21, 1942, in Catawba County, Bruce lived a life rich with love for his family and was a committed professional plumber for over 50 years.
As a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, his faith guided him through both triumphs and challenges.
In his personal pursuits, Bruce took great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed hunting and watching Western TV shows, activities that brought him comfort and happiness. An automotive enthusiast, he dedicated time to restoring his prized 1955 Chevy Bel Air, a task that showcased his patience, skill, and love for classic cars.
Bruce is survived by his son, Todd Vernon Clontz, and his siblings: Earlene Miller, Barbara Price (Billy), Linda Bolick, Glenn Clontz (Steva), Doris Abernathy, David Clontz (Vickie), Randy Clontz (Cynthia), and Kim Campbell (Reggie). Additionally, he leaves behind a great number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Ulicy and Lula Shook Clontz, and his daughter, Hope Michelle Clontz.
A family led visitation will be held Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm at St Stephens Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod located at 2304 Springs Road NE, Hickory, NC followed a family led memorial service at 3:30 pm.

The memories of Bruce’s gentle spirit and unwavering love will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed by family, friends, and all who had the honor of crossing his path.
