Bud James Reed

Bud James Reed, born on December 8, 1946, in Alexander County, passed away on December 3, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem at the age of 78. He is remembered as a dedicated truck driver who took great pride in his work, exemplified by his receipt of perfect attendance certificates and safety driving awards, demonstrating his commitment to his career and the community he served. Bud also worked as a convenience center attendant for Alexander County developing many friendships.

Bud was a member of Fellowship Advent Christian Church, where he nurtured connections with his faith and found a sense of belonging. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, holding dear his role as a father, brother, and friend. Bud had an infectious sense of humor, often joking around and bringing laughter to those around him. He also found joy in simple pleasures, such as sharing meals and making memories with loved ones.

He is survived by a loving family that includes his son, James Reed (Alison), and his daughter, Jennifer Reed. Additionally, Bud's heart remained open to his bonus children, Sherry Stone and her son Blake Shook (Terri), Dennis Hefner, and Keith Hefner. His legacy lives on through numerous grand and great-grandchildren, who will remember the warmth and laughter he brought into their lives. He is also survived by his siblings, Ralph Reed (Sandra) and Ruth Whitener, along with several nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry forward his memory.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Arpha Elmore Reed and Espie Teague Reed, as well as his first wife and the mother of his children, Dottie Reed, and his second wife, Frankie Reed.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Fellowship Advent Christian Church, located at 885 Icard Ridge Road, Township of Taylorsville, NC 28681.The funeral service will be Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Fellowship Advent Christian Church at 3:30 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Mike Bassett and Pastor Dave Ross will officiate. James Reed, Shawn Reed, Shay Reed, Gavin Reed, Nick Wilson, and Bob Green will serve as pallbearers. Blake Shook and Mark Sharpe will be honorary pallbearers.

The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to Christian Crisis Center, 215 5th Ave SW, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

Bud will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends.
