Carl Ransom Sipe, Jr., age 83, beloved member of his community and devoted family man, passed away on January 18, 2026, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Iredell County. Born on June 21, 1942, in Alexander County, he dedicated much of his life to his family and his work as a truck driver for Sipe Lumber Company.
Throughout his lifetime, Jr. exemplified a deep love for his family, which remained a central theme in his life. He was a cherished brother to his siblings, Phyllis Sipe of Taylorsville, NC, Bobby Sipe (Pam) of Taylorsville, NC, and Nancy Houston (Jimmy) of Statesville, NC. In addition to his siblings, he embraced his role as a stepfather to Lynn Icenhour (Mindy) of Hickory, NC, Clifford Icenhour (Kathy) of Taylorsville, NC, and David Icenhour (Debbie) of Taylorsville, NC. His family also includes a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Jr. had a variety of interests outside of work, including a passion for collecting glassware and old farm equipment. His curiosity about the world led him to find joy in anything he could get his hands on, enabling him to share stories and memories with those around him. His commitment to family and community was also reflected in his proud affiliation as a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.
Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Carl R. and Dessie Sipe; his beloved wife, Clara Drum Sipe; his sister, Shirley Gail Sipe; and his stepdaughter, Diann Stocks.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Alexander Funeral Service, located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. A graveside service will take place the following day, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 3:00 pm at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1364 Church Road, Taylorsville, NC. Rev. James A. Dahl will officiate. The truck drivers of Sipe Lumber Company will serve as pallbearers, Terry James, Jeff Smith, Todd Lail, Shannon Lowrance, Mike Summerlin, and Billy Herman.

Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and friends, and for the warmth and kindness he shared with all who crossed his path. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to resonate with those who knew him.
