Cathy Diana Pennell Fox, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence on November 22, 2025, after her brave fight against cancer. Born on October 8, 1954, in Catawba County, Cathy dedicated her life to her family and community, leaving a legacy of love and kindness.
For 33 years, Cathy worked at Crossroads Grill, where she became a cherished member of the community, known for the warmth she brought to her role as a waitress. Her genuine care and attention resonated with the many customers she served, creating lasting relationships that spanned generations.
Cathy was known not just for her professional dedication, but also for her unwavering devotion to Millersville Baptist Church, her family, and her friends. She cultivated these connections with a contagious spirit and a loving heart, touching the lives of those around her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Lonnie "Dean" Fox, their daughter, Tammy Fox Bowman, and her husband, Keith. Cathy will also be lovingly remembered by her brother, Michael Pennell, and his wife, Pam, and two sisters, Paulette Miranda and her husband, Pablo, and Joan Eller and her husband, Danny. Grandchildren who she adored, Joshua Philyaw (Emily), Colt Philyaw, Hunter Philyaw, Adam Bowman (Destiny), and Randall Bowman. She also leaves behind 6 great grandchildren, along with a number of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Cathy was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Paul Smith Pennell and Pauline Crouch Pennell, as well as her dearly missed daughter, Julie Ann Fox, and son-in-law, Kenneth Philyaw.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday November 26, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM, all at Millersville Baptist Church, located at 130 Millersville Church Road, Township of Taylorsville, NC 28681. Rev. Bill Orren and Rev. Brian Kerley will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Cathy’s spirit will forever remain a guiding light to her family and friends, as they cherish the memories and love she shared in her lifetime. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of compassion and faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
