Charles Allen "Junebug" Lackey

February 12, 1965 — July 14, 2025

Taylorville

Charles Allen Lackey, also known as Junebug, born on February 12, 1965, in Alexander County, left this world peacefully on July 14, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his cherished family after a brief illness.

A man of practical talents and genuine spirit, Charles had a profound enjoyment for mowing and had a particular knack for fixing up lawn mowers and plumbing. His hands were often busy with tasks that brought him fulfillment, reflecting his connection to both his surroundings and the people in his life.

Charles is survived by his beloved sister, Deborah Lackey Dillard, along with his loving nephew, Lanny Todd Harrington, and niece, Ashley Nicole Earp, who is engaged to Chris Dyson. The joys of his life extended to his great nephews, Simon Alexander Bare and Tripp Wilder Harrington, and his great niece, Abbie Taya Bare, who were all a source of pride and happiness for him. Furthermore, two aunts, Shirley Ann Jolly and Martha Lucinda Jolly, along with a few cousins, continue to remember him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Hugh Lackey and Sally Jolly Lackey, and his sister, Barbara Ann "Duck" Lackey, as well as his brother, Gary Wayne "Buckshot" Lackey. Charles is also mourned by the memories of his maternal grandparents, Hackett and Pearl Jolly, and his paternal grandmother, Mammie Lackey, along with several aunts and uncles.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Stony Point Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Rev. Lathan Peterson will officiate.

Charles's legacy is one of love, hard work, and the joy of simple pleasures. He leaves behind a devoted family who will carry his memory forward.
