Colleen Bunton Campbell

Colleen Bunton Campbell, age 91, of Hiddenite passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Valley Nursing Center in Alexander County. She was born in Alexander County on January 3, 1934, the daughter of the late Claude Franklin Bunton and Mary Lee Pool Bunton. In September 1993 she retired from the Credit Department of Ingram Book Company, a national wholesale distributor in Nashville, TN, and moved back to Alexander County. Mrs. Campbell was a faithful member and supporter of Pilgrim Baptist Church where she had served on various committees, as choir member and as Sunday school teacher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Wheeler Campbell; an infant brother, Jimmie Gilbert Bunton; brother, Carl D. Bunton; two sisters, Mary Claudine Bunton and Ruth McLarty; niece, Adonna Dickerson; and a brother and sister-in-law, Claude Atwell Bunton and Frances Patterson Bunton.

Colleen is survived by two nephews, Tim McLarty (Jana) and Derek Bunton (Kelley); three nieces, Gloria Daniel (Jack), Cari Johnson (Paul), and Carla Harrington (Mark); five grandnephews, two grandnieces, and one great-nephew.

A visitation will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Pilgrim Baptist Church from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm. The funeral service will be Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 4:00 pm at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Rev. Tom Lambert will officiate. Burial will follow in Burns Cemetery in Shelbyville, TN.
