Daphne Ann Matthews Carrigan

Daphne Ann Matthews Carrigan, age 76, passed away on December 25, 2025, at her home in Alexander County. Born on July 4, 1949, in Catawba County, she embraced life with a loving spirit that resonated deeply with all who knew her.

Daphne dedicated a significant part of her working career at Taylor Togs as a sewer, where she was known for her meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. Her work ethic and commitment were matched only by the love she poured into her family. A simple lady by nature, she held her family dear and enjoyed helping her late husband, Lee Roy Carrigan, in their shared endeavors.

A member of the Taylorsville Church of God, Daphne found joy and support in her church family. Her warmth and generous heart left an indelible mark on her community, where she will be remembered as a truly kind soul.

Throughout her life, Daphne was surrounded by a loving family. She is survived by her brothers Ronald Matthews (Darlene), Cloyd Matthews (Phyllis), Paul Matthews, and Tim Matthews; her sisters Sharon Burner (Steve) and June Nunez; as well as her nephews Rickie Carrigan (Barbara) and Terry Williams (Tracy); her nieces Cynthia Mecimore and Angela Mecimore; sister-in-law Glenda Mecimore, along with numerous other nieces and nephews, and furry friend, Cheetoh.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frankie and Blene Lail Matthews, her husband Lee Roy Carrigan, and siblings David Matthews, Beverly Matthews, and Bill Matthews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm at the Taylorsville Church of God, located at 486 East Main Avenue, Township of Taylorsville, NC. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at the same location. Pastor Mark Albertino will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.
