David was a devoted family man, known for his deep love for his relatives and a strong bond with his church family at Bethlehem Church of God. His commitment to his faith was evident through his remarkable achievement of 21 years of perfect attendance in Sunday School, a testament to his dedication and love for both his church and the community it fostered.
In life, David earned the affectionate nickname "Super Dave," reflecting his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. He had the honor of being chosen to light the Bethlehem Star, an accolade that spoke to his character. He found joy not only in his faith but also in his daily pursuits; David loved spending time outdoors, particularly enjoying moments on the front porch listening to the radio. He had a passion for photography, capturing the beauty of life's moments with his camera, and he participated actively at Alexander Opportunities, now known as Abound Health.
David is survived by his brother Harold "Bud" Lail and his sister Joyce Ann Lail, who lovingly cared for him throughout much of his life. He also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins who were fortunate to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dexter David Lail and Mary Coodie Benfield Lail, as well as his sisters Mary Sayles and Helen Terry, and brothers Clifford Lail and Sam Lail.
The visitation for David will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a funeral service commencing at 2:00 pm, both at Bethlehem Church of God, located at 351 B and S Ln, Hickory, NC 28601.
