David John Ozment

David John Ozment, age 65, born on June 10, 1960, in Kokomo, Indiana, passed away at his home in Alexander County on May 11, 2026. He was known for his dedication to his work and his love for the outdoors. David’s career was devoted to lawn care, where he applied his expertise and passion to beautify the environment around him.

David found great joy in spending time with his family. In addition to his professional life, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, bowling, and simply being out in nature—activities that brought him peace and happiness.

He is survived by his sister, Julie Pelicano, along with nephews Eric Francis (Ashleigh Hull), Ned Taylor, and Jesse Francis; niece Sarah Clanton (Josh); great-aunt Eva Dalton; as well as five great-nieces, four great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lynn Ozment and Loreda Sara White Ozment, and his sister Beth Taylor.

A Celebration of Life to honor David’s memory will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 5:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service, located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681. Rhett Miller will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

David’s legacy is etched in the hearts of his family and community. His love for life, devotion to his family, and enthusiasm for the simple pleasures of the outdoors remain an enduring inspiration. He will be deeply missed but always remembered with great respect and affection.
