Deborah Jane Teague Moretz, age 72, affectionately known as Deb, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born on January 31, 1953, in Catawba County, Deb lived a life filled with love and dedication to her family and community.
Throughout her working career, Deb proudly served as a sewer for Coley Homes Furniture. Her skills and craftsmanship were a testament to her hardworking nature. However, it was her devotion to her family that truly defined her. Deb cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit and warm heart will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A member of the Fellowship Advent Christian Church, Deb was actively involved in her faith community, embodying the values of compassion and connection. She enjoyed gardening, showcasing her green thumb, and took great pleasure in cooking, traveling to the mountains, and sewing. These hobbies brought her happiness and were reflective of her vibrant personality.
Deb is survived by her children, ReDina Moretz and Sherman Moretz (Natasha), along with her stepchildren Stacy Wilson (Lee) and Darren Buchanan (Tracy). She is also survived by the father of her children, Larry Moretz (Diane), siblings Roger Teague (Deb), Michael Teague, Patty Spencer (Tim), and sister-in-law Carolyn Teague. Additionally, she leaves behind her grandchildren Luke Moretz, Brax, Bo, and Avy "Blossom" Moretz, and step-grandchildren Ben, Abi, and Ali Icard, who brought her immense joy, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins all who will carry her memory forward.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ethel Richey Teague, her stepmother Mary Lail Teague, her second husband Ben Buchanan, her brother Lynn Teague, stepsister Vicki "Mickey," and nephews Brad Teague and Josh Jowers.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a funeral service honoring Deb’s life at 4:00 pm. Both events will be held at the Fellowship Advent Christian Church, located at 885 Icard Ridge Road, Township of Taylorsville, NC 28681. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Michael Bassett and Pastor Dave Ross will officiate. Luke, Ben, Brax, Bo, Chad “Tigger,” Dustin, Darren, Rick, and RJ will serve as pallbearers.

Deb will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
