Dennis Alvin White, age 78, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024, at Gordon Hospice House in Iredell County. He was born to the late Roy Richard White and Lena Delora Sharpe White in Caldwell County on Sunday, October 21, 1945. Mr. White proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his working career, Dennis worked for the United States Postal Service as a postal carrier. He was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Director, and a Sunday School teacher for many years. He read his Bible every day and loved leading other people to the Lord. Dennis enjoyed quilting, and he donated the quilts he made to Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. He also enjoyed listening to music, especially Bluegrass gospel.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Ann McDuffie; son, Rodney Dennis White; mother-in-law, Dollie McDuffie; brother, Clarence White; sister, Juanita Kincaid.
Those left to cherish the memories of Dennis include his son, Chris White and wife Laurie of Matthews; daughter-in-law, Crystal Laws White; brother, Richard White and wife Kathie; sisters, Doris Leger and husband Albert, Nancy Cloer; five grandchildren, Courtney Brittain and husband Cody, Rodney Colton White and wife Hannah Elizabeth, Stephanie Bren White, George White, Anna Kate White; three great-grandchildren, Lillian, Layla, and Cashton Brittain; special neighbor and friend, Mark Frye and wife Elaine; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Temple Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Bill Sturm and Pastor Jordan Finley will officiate. Cody Brittain, Cashton Brittain, Rodney Colton White, Stephanie Bren White, George White, Mason Letterman, and Brett Letterman will serve as pallbearers.
The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, 3702 16th St NE, Hickory, NC 28601
