Valdese

Douglas Wayne Paige, born on May 12, 1962, in Catawba County, left this world peacefully at his home in Valdese on September 23, 2025. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness and passion for life.

Douglas dedicated much of his career to working as a mechanic, where his love for cars was evident in his work and interactions with others. He relished every opportunity to fix and restore vehicles, finding joy in every engine he tuned and every car he repaired.

A man of great love and family values, Douglas cherished his time with those closest to him. He always looked forward to gathering with his family, creating memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of his loved ones. His warmth and kindness were powerful, and the richness of his life was reflected in the relationships he nurtured.

Douglas had a variety of interests that brought him joy beyond his mechanical pursuits. He enjoyed fishing, often finding solace on the water, where he spent peaceful moments away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Music was another source of joy, and he loved to listen and play the guitar, sharing this passion with family and friends.

He leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory with them. His surviving family includes his wife, Patsy Paige; his children, David Shoup, Melinda Mayfield (Nate), and Jeff Paige; as well as 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Paige and Joe Trivette; his nephews, Wade Paige and Chad Paige; special caregiver, Val Burleson; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Leroy Paige and Hilda Ruth Teague, and by his brothers, Stanley Paige and David Trivette.
