Edward Arthur Turner, known affectionately as Ed, passed away at his home in Alexander County on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. He was born on Tuesday, April 15, 1941, in Catawba County to the late Arthur Lincoln Turner and Claudia Craig Turner. Ed dedicated 34 years of his life to the furniture industry, where his hard work shone through in all he did.
Aside from his successful career, Ed's true joy stemmed from the time he spent with his grandchildren. He cherished those moments and created lasting memories that will be treasured by his family for generations to come. In addition to his work and family life, Ed had a variety of hobbies and interests including woodworking, gardening, and tending to his yard. These activities brought him peace and fulfillment throughout his life.
Including his parents, Ed was preceded in death by two brothers, Otto Turner and Jackie Turner.
Ed leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. Among those mourning his loss are his surviving family and friends. His wife of 27 years, Glenda Turner, supported him throughout their journey together. Ed is also survived by his sons Lynn Turner (and special friend Diane) of Statesville and Timothy Turner of Hickory; daughters Sandy Church (Donald), Lisa Hall (Jessie) both of Wilkesboro; sisters Betty Cooke of Catawba and Barbara Lewis of Virginia; five granddaughters; five grandsons; multiple great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
In remembrance of Edward Arthur Turner's life, a memorial service will be held Friday, July 5, 2024, in the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel at 6:00 pm. Rev. Tony Wilson and Rev. Richard Blevins will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family
