Eric Christian Dollar, age 53, a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 8, 2026, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Catawba County. Born on July 14, 1972, in Parsippany, New Jersey, Eric was a devoted family man whose life’s work and passions left an enduring mark on everyone who knew him.
Eric was the cherished husband of Donna Dollar and a loving son to his mother, Mary Bustle, and stepfather, Carl. He was the proud father of Evan Chase Dollar and his wife, Kayla, Ashton Dollar Patterson and her wife, Carrie, and Chelsea Flowers. His dedication extended to his grandchildren—Rylan, Elam, Anson, Ezra, Habakkuk, Obadiah, and John-Abner Dollar—whom he loved dearly and traveled to Kentucky to visit as often as possible. Eric also leaves behind his brother, John Dollar, and sister-in-law, Leasa, as well as his nephew, Aron Dollar, and wife, Kaylyn. He is remembered fondly by his friends, among them Ricky Riley and Brian Sigmon.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Charles Dollar; his maternal-grandmother, Ethel Gesbrecht; and his maternal-grandfather, Harold Gesbrecht.
A lifelong truck driver, Eric was known for his love of the open road and for the camaraderie he found talking with fellow drivers on his CB radio. He had a deep appreciation for motorcycles, enjoying the freedom and adventure they brought. Beyond his work and hobbies, Eric’s Christian faith guided and inspired his life, shaping him into a person of integrity, kindness, and generosity.
Above all else, Eric was a family man. He loved and cherished his family, finding immense joy in the time spent together, whether sharing stories or making new memories. His commitment to those he loved was steadfast, and his legacy is one of devotion, warmth, and unwavering support.
