Ethel Marie Richey Teague, beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Alexander County on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on Thursday, December 25, 1930, in Alexander County, Ethel dedicated her life to her family and her work, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
For over 70 years, Ethel worked diligently as a sewer in the furniture industry, showcasing her remarkable skill and dedication to her craft. Her hands, which created countless items of comfort and beauty, reflected the love and care she extended to her family and community.
Ethel had a passion for gardening and flowers, often transforming her surroundings into a vibrant tapestry of color and life. She found joy in cooking and canning, sharing her culinary creations with family and friends. Her love for travel brought the family closer together, with many cherished memories formed during these adventures.
Ethel is predeceased by her parents, Plumer L. and Ida Yount Richey; her son Lynn Teague; grandsons Brad Teague and Josh Jowers; and 12 siblings.
Ethel's devotion to her family was palpable. She is survived by her children, Roger Teague (Debbie), Michael Teague (Sandy), Deborah Moretz, and Patty Spencer (Tim); her grandchildren, Jessica Taylor (Rick), ReDina Moretz, Jeannie Teague, Chad Teague, Sherman Moretz (Natasha), and Jonathan Teague; and great-grandchildren Erin, Kendra, Ryker, Sierra, Luke, Joe, Jake, Braxton, Bowen, and Avalynn, as well as three great-great-grandchildren, Ellie, Cai, and Blakey, along with a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A family led visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Fellowship Advent Christian Church, located at 885 Icard Ridge Road in the Township of Taylorsville, NC, 28681. Inurnment will be with the family.
The family has requested no flowers.
Ethel will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will remain alive in the stories shared and the love that bonds her family together. Her legacy of hard work, family devotion, and joyful living will continue to inspire all who knew her.
