Eva Maude Fulbright Echerd, affectionately known as Maude, age 83, was born on June 5, 1942, in Catawba County. She passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, at Gordon Hospice House in Iredell County, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Maude was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church, where her faith played a central role in her life. She was known for her warm personality and the joy she found in spending time with her family. Cooking for her loved ones was not just a task for Maude; it was a passion, one that fostered countless gatherings and unforgettable moments around the dining table.
Throughout her life, Maude took immense pride in her accomplishments, particularly her involvement with the Ladies Auxiliary at the Ellendale Fire Department. Her commitment to her community and her dedication to service were hallmarks of her character, showcasing her generous spirit and caring nature.
She is survived by her loving children, Michael Echerd (Petra), Roger Echerd (Lynn), and Elaine Echerd, who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Maude also leaves behind a brother, Earl Fulbright (Betty), five grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored deeply and who will always remember her fondly.
Maude was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Basil Echerd, as well as her parents, George and Pearl Keever Fulbright. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James "Buddy" Fulbright, Bobby Fulbright, Jack Fulbright, Thomas Fulbright, Lawrence Fulbright, William Fulbright, and Gary Fulbright, as well as her sister, Valree Hughes, and her granddaughter, Allison Leigh Echerd, and great-grandson, Bryan Nelson.
A visitation will be held Friday, October 24, 2025, at Mt. Herman Baptist Church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will be Friday, October 24, 2025, at Mt. Herman Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Mt. Herman Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Earl Fulbright and Rev. Paul Schronce will officiate.
