Felicia Jane Bowman, age 68, born on Saturday, April 6, 1957, in Catawba County, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Catawba County. A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and great-aunt, Felicia's life was characterized by her deep love for her family and her cherished moments spent with them.
Felicia graduated from Alexander Central High School in 1975, where she dedicated her studies to mastering the French language over four years before continuing her education at Lenoir Rhyne University. Her commitment to learning reflected her passion for knowledge and culture.
Throughout her life, Felicia enjoyed a range of hobbies and interests. She had a particular fondness for reading, often losing herself in the pages of her favorite books. Her love for animals was well-known, as she embraced the companionship they offered.
Felicia is survived by her father, Allen Lynn Bowman and wife Naomi Bowman, and her brothers, Timmie Bowman and Steven Bowman (Lisa Baril). She also leaves behind her nephews, Phillip Scott Bowman and his wife Morghan Hastings Bowman, and Brian Scott Shook, who is married to Michelle Babaie Shook. Her legacy continues through her great-nieces, Sasha Rae Bowman and Seraphina Rae Bowman, who will carry her memory forward, as well as many cousins and extended family members.
Felicia was preceded in death by her mother, Sadie Smith Bowman, and her paternal grandparents, Lorenzo and Lillian Blanche Johnson Bowman. She was also predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Claude Cecil and Bertha Ellen Hollar Smith.
A graveside service to honor Felicia's life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11:00 am at Mt. Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery, located at 9042 North Carolina 127, Hickory, NC 28601. Pastor Jobe Boarders will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her life and the connections she nurtured throughout her years.
The family will accept flowers.
Felicia will be remembered as a devoted family member whose kindness touched the lives of those around her, leaving a lasting impression in the hearts of all who knew her.
