Francis "Joe" Arnold Shearer

Francis "Joe" Arnold Shearer, known affectionately as Joe to his family and friends, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Forsyth County. He was born on Wednesday, July 12, 1939, in Keene, New Hampshire to the late Russell and Florine Shearer. He graduated high school in June 1958 and furthered his education at the University of New Hampshire. His passion for learning and exploring new horizons never wavered. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1962. After his military service, he embarked on a career at Piedmont Vending, where he worked as a vending repair technician for 25 years before retiring. His dedication to his work was admired by all who knew him. Joe had a fulfilling life that touched the hearts of many around him.

In his free time, Joe found joy in various hobbies and interests such as traveling, NASCAR, hunting, camping, bowling, and attending church. He had a zest for life that was infectious to those around him. Joe also cherished moments spent with his family and friends; these memories will be treasured forever.

He is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Florine Shearer and his son Mark D. Shearer.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Constance “Connie” A. Shearer; his son Andrew Joel Shearer and wife Angela of Taylorsville, NC; his brother James Shearer of Keene, NH; his sister Geraldine Patnaude of Taylorsville, NC; along with three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members including a special niece, Jennifer.

A memorial service to celebrate Joe's life will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Fellowship Advent Christian Church at 3:00 pm to honor the memory of a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. There will be a private family burial at Joe’s request. Pastor Dave Ross will officiate.

The family will accept flowers.
