Georgia Leigh Treadway Teague passed away peacefully at her home in Alexander County on July 20, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on October 18, 1948, in Alexander County, Georgia was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose legacy radiates through her devotion to family and the unique joys she brought into each of their lives.
Georgia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dewitt “Hop” Teague, son, Bradley Teague, grandson, Lane Ferguson, and special niece, Tammy Tilley Adams. Each of them felt the warmth of Georgia’s affection and the strength of her unwavering presence.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Treadway and Minnie Dingler, and stepfather Shorty Dingler. She was also preceded by her daughter, Savonda Bumgarner, siblings: her brother James Treadway, and sisters Louise Shumate, Barbara “Barb” Dolinger, Jean Cline, Francis Brewer, and Betty Tilley.
Georgia possessed both a creative spirit and a whimsical appreciation for the simple beauties of life. She found great joy in collecting salt and pepper shakers and milk jugs. Her talent for crafting was evident in countless handmade pieces.
Above all, Georgia loved her family deeply. Her generosity of spirit, gentle humor, and heartfelt concern for those around her made her a trusted confidant and an incomparable source of comfort. Her love was steadfast and unconditional, providing guidance and shelter in times of both joy and hardship.
