Glenda Gale Bowman Sipe

July 24, 1944 — September 3, 2025

Glenda Gale Bowman Sipe, 81, of Taylorsville, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Born on July 24, 1944, to Pete Theodore Bowman and Lottie Elizabeth Bowman, Glenda was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Taylorsville. Throughout her life she worked in various jobs, but her greatest calling was being a devoted Wife, Mama, Grandma, and “Aunt Sis.”

Glenda had a heart for helping others. She delighted in finding thoughtful gifts for friends, neighbors, and family, and her giving spirit brought joy to all who knew her. She was an avid sports fan—whether cheering on her grandchildren at their games or watching from home. When her health allowed, she enjoyed tending to her flowers and yard, and she especially loved traveling with her family, with beach trips holding a special place in her heart. Time spent with loved ones was truly precious to her.

In addition to her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline Richey and Louann Frye; brothers, Ted Bowman and Linzey Bowman; and daughter-in-law, Susan Matlock Sipe.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Conley Sipe; sons, Kevin (Amy) Sipe and Kendall (Angie) Sipe; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Sipe, Kenna Sipe, Heath Dagenhart, Hunter Dagenhart, and Reagan Dagenhart; and a bonus grandson, Gianmarco Brunetti of Torino, Italy. She is also survived by her brother, Wayne (Nancy) Bowman; sisters-in-law, Glenda Bowman and Doris Bowman; many nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at St. Luke Lutheran Church Cemetery in Taylorsville, with Rev. James Dahl, pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Pallbearers will be Heath Dagenhart, Hunter Dagenhart, Mike Pennell, Chris Richey, Bradley Richey, and Eric Frye.

The Sipe family deeply appreciates the love and support shown by friends and extended family during Glenda’s illness. They are especially grateful to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County and their staff for their compassion and care. Special thanks are extended to her caregivers, Holly Fink and Phyllis Mays, for their loving care.
