Harvey Douglas “Crazy Horse” Williams, age 65, of Taylorsville, passed away in Hospice of Catawba County on Saturday morning, Aug. 7, 2010. Born, June 18, 1945, to the late Arnil Gaston  and Florence Pauline Hefner Williams in Catawba Co. he was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. Harvey served in the US Army in Germany during the Viet Nam War. He was a professional truck driver and had driven for MDI, Clayton Marcus, Feight Liner, Highland House, Hickory Springs, among others. He was an active member of Carolina Faith Riders, Foothills Antique Power Association, Apple City Street Roders, and had been a member of the American Legion of Hickory. Harvey was preceded by one sister, Connie Williams in addition to his parents. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Francis Bowman Williams of the home. Two daughters: Shawn Messer and husband Steve of Conover, and Annette Williams of the home. One granddaughter, Anna Messer of Taylorsville. Four sisters: Rita Ramsey of Claremont, Janice Bolick of Hickory, Brenda Greene and husband Buster of Supply, NC,  and Susie Weathers, of Gastonia. One brother, Harlee Williams and wife Jennie of Marion. One uncle Claude Hefner and wife Effie of Charlotte. Mr. Williams had a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.  Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, August 8, 2010 at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, from 5-7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Monday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m. at the church. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in Friendship Community Cemetery in the Whittenburg Community. Rev. Homer Greene will officiate and members of the Carolina Faith Riders will be pallbearers and escort for the procession. Military rites will be rendered by DAV Post 84 of Taylorsville.  Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service in Taylorsville is serving the Williams family.
