Herbert "Hoover" Jolly, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. He was born in Alexander County to parents Herbert Shields and Mary Amanda Fox Jolly on April 6th, 1928.  He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and was a bus driver for the youth there.  He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran that served during Korea.  In addition to his parents, Hoover was preceded in death by his brother, Rayford Jolly, and 2 sisters: Ruth Pennell and Leoda White.  He is survived by his wife, Eloise Jolly of the home; 2 daughters: Lynette Johnson and husband David, Tracy Sigmon and husband Gary; son, Lanny Jolly and wife Karen – all of Taylorsville; his brother, Shields Jolly and wife Betty; 3 sisters: Nellie Fox of Taylorsville, Lou Eva Fox and husband Everette of Claremont, and Polly Edwards of Sherrills Ford.  He leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Leslie Echerd and husband Greg, Matthew Jolly, Bruce Gragg and wife Angela, Bradley Gragg, Whitney Sigmon, and Garrison Sigmon – all of Taylorsville; 5 great-grandchildren: Canyon Echerd, Chloe Echerd, Halle Gragg, Bryce Jolly, and Ariel Jolly – as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service with funeral services on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 11:00 A.M, at Salem Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where Military Rights will be given by DAV Chapter 84. Memorials may be madew to the American Heart Association at: American Heart Association National Center 7272 Greenville Avenue Dallas, TX 75231.  Alexander Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
