Ila “Anne” Jonas McDonald, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at her home in Alexander County. Born on Sunday, April 4, 1943, in Alexander County, to the late Butler Stephenson Jonas and Effie Bentley.

Anne had a deep appreciation for her family, particularly relishing the time spent with her grandchildren, whose laughter and joy filled her heart with happiness. She also enjoyed reading, tackling crossword puzzles, and delving into the Bible, often finding peace and solace in her studies. Among her favorite pastimes was her passion for flowers, which brought her great joy and enriched her surroundings. Anne was a proud member of Friendly Baptist Church. Anne's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and relationships with those around her.

Anne was a devoted wife and mother, married to Wayne McDonald for 38 wonderful years. Together, they nurtured a loving family that includes sons Michael Denny (Beth), Scott Denny (Sandra), Stephen Denny, and Terry McDonald, as well as the proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Her devotion to family extended beyond immediate relatives, as she shared a close bond with her sisters Ruth Tyndall (Earl) and Faye Rhoder (Randy).

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Johnny, Paul, Carol, Melvin, and Linney Jonas, and infant great-grandson, Jamison Axl Herrick.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Friendly Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Rev. Robert Ashe and Rev. Steven Goodman will officiate. Blake Denny, Christopher Denny, Cade Denny, Ashton Denny, Garrett Denny, and Nathaniel Denny will serve as pallbearers. Noah Denny will be an honorary pallbearer. Inurnment will be with the family.

The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to Friendly Baptist Church, 576 Friendly Church Road, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

Anne will be fondly remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family, leaving behind a lasting impact on all who knew her.
