Jack Alexander Walker, age 91, a devoted family man and faithful member of Rocky Face Baptist Church, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Catawba County. Born on April 13, 1934, in Alexander County, Jack lived a life grounded in love, faith, and steadfast commitment to his loved ones and his community.
Jack was known for his deep love and cherished relationships within his family. He was a devoted husband to Shirley Walker, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family that extended through children Kenneth Walker, Jacque Sigmon (Denny), and Scott Walker (April Gant), as well as stepson Milton Jones (Leslie). Their family blossomed further with numerous grandchildren—Candace (Jarrod), Tyler (Sherry), Wes, Tristan (Courtney), Jacob, Joseph, Haley, Michael (Amy), Devan, and Zoe—and the joy of nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Miller Walker, sister-in-law Mildred Huff, and several nieces and nephews, who will all hold his memory dearly.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, D.M. and OnaBell Childers Walker, along with four sisters, his stepdaughter Shelia Jones, and sister-in-law Ruth Walker.
A man of strong faith, Jack was an active and beloved member of Rocky Face Baptist Church in Hiddenite, North Carolina. His profound dedication to the Lord was evident to all who knew him. Jack often expressed his assurance and joy by saying, "I'm going to Glory," reflecting his unwavering hope and spiritual conviction. He took great pleasure in attending camp meetings and worshiping deeply, embodying his commitment to the church’s fellowship and mission.
Beyond his spiritual life, Jack was a man who found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of the outdoors. He was an avid gardener, loving to nurture his garden and spend time surrounded by nature. These moments of quiet reflection and connection to the earth were among his cherished pastimes.
The visitation for Jack will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Rocky Face Baptist Church, located at 3085 Rocky Face Church Road in Hiddenite, NC 28636. The funeral service will be Friday, March 27, 2026, at Rocky Face Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Ryan Hodges will officiate.
The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to Rocky Face Baptist Church, 3085 Rocky Face Church Road, Hiddenite, NC 28636.
Family, faith, and fellowship defined Jack’s life. He leaves behind a legacy marked by devotion, kindness, and an enduring spirit that inspired those around him. His presence will be profoundly missed, yet fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
