James Michael Burke

James Michael Burke, age 76, of Lincolnton, passed away on October 17, 2026, at Gordon Hospice House in Iredell County. He was born on November 12, 1949, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

James built a life marked by hard work, devotion, and steady commitment. He was a plant manager in the hosiery industry, and he was also known as a businessman who continued working until his retirement at the age of 72. His strong work ethic was matched by the enjoyment he found in everyday life. He liked playing racquetball, spending time playing poker, watching television, and traveling. Above all, he loved his family, and that love remained at the center of his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Burke; his sister, Patricia Baumann (John); his grandson, Derrick Poovey; and his great-grandchildren, Macey and Kacen Poovey. These family members, along with all who knew and loved him, carry forward the memory of a man whose presence was an important part of their lives.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James Raymond Burke and Ellen Mary Moran Burke.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date. Inurnment will be with the family.

James will be remembered with love by his family and by those who shared in his life, work, and friendship.
