James Wingler,

James Arnold Wingler, “Sweetpea”, age 65, of Hiddenite, completed his journey to God’s kingdom on Wednesday, July 14th, 2010.  He was born to parents Isom Millard and Artie Sheets Wingler on February 2nd, 1945 in Ashe County.  James was a proud member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He also loved to mow with his John Deere.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers: JD and Larry Wingler, and Ervin Shepherd; and also 2 sisters: Ruby Pennington and Georgie Wallace.  Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years, Sherri Millsaps Wingler of the home; their sons: Det. Sgt. James Jared Wingler and wife Erica of Taylorsville, and Dr. Cody Adam Wingler and wife Melanie of Winterville; 2 adorable grand-sons: Connor James and Jackson Eric Wingler.  He also leaves behind 2 brothers: Claude Shepherd and Fred Wingler; and 1 sister: Sally Dancy – all of Wilkes County.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 on Friday, July 16th at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Hiddenite.  The funeral service will follow on Saturday at 2 at Mt. Nebo where the Rev. Brian Eades and Rev. Harry Hawk will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association at: 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.  Alexander Funeral Service has been entrusted with the care of the Wingler family.
