Jody Carl Church, age 55, born on Thursday, May 1, 1969, in Wilkes County, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Wilkes Medical Center in Wilkes County.
Jody cherished every moment spent with his family and grandbabies, relishing the opportunity to create memories. Jody had a special bond with his sister, Carla, that left him broken-hearted after her passing. His grandchildren, Zoah and Valor Sweet, held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in spending time with them, nurturing their laughter and growth.
Jody enjoyed camping and fishing on the New River, where he could appreciate the beauty of nature. His love for watching football was also a significant part of his life, allowing him to enjoy the excitement of the game while connecting with others.
Jody’s legacy continues through his children, Matt Church (Erin Fulbright), Amber Church-Sweet (Jordan), and Devin Church, as well as his grandchildren Zoah and Valor Sweet. He is also survived by his mother, Rita Faye Payne; siblings, Robin Lynn Morgan and brothers, Jason Neil Church, and Corrie Nolan Church (Britt); half-siblings, Mary Kilby, Gail Kilby, Jan Dyer, Hon Church, Horace Church, Dwight Church, Wayne Church; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Willard Church, and his brothers, Morris, Vaughn, Jessie, and Norris Church, along with his sister and best friend, Carla Church.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Scenic Memorial Gardens in Wilkesboro at 2:00 pm. Pastor Derrick Kilby will officiate.

Jody Church’s spirit endures through the cherished memories of those who loved him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
