John Joseph Principe

John Joseph Principe, age 58, passed away at his home in Alexander County on August 20, 2026. Born on March 8, 1968, in Suffolk County, New York, John touched the lives of many throughout his 58 years with his sense of humor and appreciation for life’s simple joys.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Sickles; daughter, Madelyn Principe and son, Alexander Principe; mother, Marilyn Hopkins, and stepfather, Shaun; siblings Ginnine Principe, Mark Principe, and Christy Garramone; nephews, Brandon, Giovanni, Julius, and Fabien; and six chickens.

John was shaped by the enduring influence of those who had gone before him. He joins in eternal rest his father, John Principe Sr., his grandmothers, Helen Principe and Lucy McNulty, and his grandfather, Albert Principe.

John enjoyed working with his hands and found fulfillment in yard work and gardening, often tending to his outdoor spaces with care. He strived for a simple, healthy, self-sustaining lifestyle. He loved the beach, baseball, and biking along with other physical activities as he put an emphasis on the importance of wellness. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner. John’s industrious spirit extended throughout his life, as he continuously sought out new projects and took pleasure in transforming his surroundings.

But above all, he reserved his deepest love and affection for his children. Their achievements brought him immense pride, and he enjoyed capturing the memories they shared.

A visitation to honor and remember John will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Alexander Funeral Service, 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by John are invited to gather in shared remembrance.
