John Harvey Wilson Sr.

John Harvey Wilson Sr., age 78, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at his home, leaving behind a rich legacy and cherished memories for his family and friends. Born on October 2, 1947, John lived a fruitful life dedicated to both his family and his career.

He made a significant mark in his professional life as a computer programmer for Hanes Converting, where he contributed his skills and expertise for many years. Outside of work, John found joy in a variety of hobbies; he was known for his fondness for yard work, washing his car, and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, proudly supporting his team through thick and thin. Yet, beyond all his pursuits, it was his love for family that defined him.

He cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, creating lasting bonds and treasured memories.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Doris Bolick Wilson, and their children: Johnny Wilson, Jimmy Wilson, and Vicki Hollar, who is married to Scott Hollar. He also leaves behind the joy of grandchildren Zakary Hollar and his wife Mara, Nikolas Hollar and his wife Heidi, and Evan Hollar. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren: Mayvis, Wesson, Destin, and Destiny. The family pet, a beloved fur baby named Ginger, also remains a cherished presence in their lives. John is further survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews who will hold his memory dear.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Wilson and Marie Garrou Wilson, and his beloved sisters, Mary Wilson and Eleanor Wilkinson.

A visitation will be held in his honor at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church, located at 9379 North Carolina 127, Township of Taylorsville, NC, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2025. This will be followed by a funeral service at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church, at 3:00 pm. Pastor Justin Mauney will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery.

John Harvey Wilson Sr.'s legacy of love, respect, and dedication to family will continue to inspire those he leaves behind, serving as a reminder of the profound impact one individual can have in the hearts of many.
