Joseph Spencer Daniel McDuffie, Jr., age 67, affectionately known to many as "Danny," passed away on March 11, 2026, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Iredell County, North Carolina. Born on March 30, 1958, in Alexander County, he lived a life marked by independence, generosity, and a deep love for his family and community.
Danny was a man of remarkable character—very independent and impressively outgoing. He was someone who would readily extend help to anyone in need, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him. His warm spirit and willingness to serve others reflected the values he held dear throughout his life.
A member of the Little River Baptist Church and was Sunday School Superintendent. His connection to the church was profound, anchoring his life with purpose and fellowship.
Those who knew Danny well remember his exceptional woodworking skills. He took great joy in crafting and creating intricate models out of wood, showcasing both talent and patience in his work. His passion extended beyond woodworking to activities such as cutting trees, saw milling, and working with tractors—interests that spoke to his strong bond with the outdoors, the land, and a proud member of the ‘Little River Redneck.’
Danny was beloved and cherished deeply by his family. He is survived by his sons, John McDuffie and Timmy McDuffie; his siblings Cim Loudermelk and George McDuffie (and George’s wife Deborah); nieces Becky "Beck" Villanueva and Lydia Pilgrim (married to Lee); and nephews Wes Loudermelk and Joseph McDuffie. His love for his family was unwavering, and they remain a testament to his enduring spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Colleen Hubbard McDuffie, his son Joseph “Joey” Spencer Daniel McDuffie III, and Naomi Delph, the mother of his children.
Danny will lie in state Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service, located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, North Carolina. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Little River Baptist Church Cemetery, 2070 Little River Church Road, Taylorsville. Rev. Keith Bowman and Rev. Mark Robinette will officiate. John McDuffie, Timmy McDuffie, Becky “Beck” Villanueva, Scotty Pennell, Wes Loudermelk, and Jamie Bumgarner will serve as pallbearers.
Danny lived a life rich with purpose, love, and generosity. His legacy as a loving father, dedicated church member, and skilled craftsman will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
