Kathleen Brown Looper, age 85, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Alexander County on November 25, 2025. Born on May 12, 1940, in Wilkes County, Kathleen's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love for her family, faith, and community.
During her working career, Kathleen showcased her creative talents as a Home Interiors, Tupperware, and Avon Rep, all of which reflected her keen eye for beauty and style in everyday life. However, it was not just her professional endeavors that defined her; it was her role as the heart of her family that truly shone. Kathleen cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, and her passion for cooking was a testament to that love. Gatherings around her table were filled with laughter, love, and delicious meals that warmed the soul.
A devoted member of White Plains Baptist Church, Kathleen had a deep love for her church and her church family. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, influencing her many relationships and the way she approached the world. She found joy in reading her Bible.
Kathleen was known for her nurturing personality, her gifts of sewing, her talents in gardening, and her appreciation for the beauty of flowers. She was a huge protector of all trees! Kathleen brought vibrancy into every aspect of her life, creating a legacy that will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who loved her.
Kathleen is lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Tommy Looper; her children Billy Looper (Tom Christ), Lisa Looper, and Tina Looper (Donald Tedder); and her treasured grandchildren Shelley (Charles), Kylie, Kesha (Kerrell), Candice (Jeremy), and Alysha (Dustin). Her legacy extends further with her great-grandchildren Sierra (Chris), Savanna (Stephen), Kenzie (Ariah), Isaiah (Josie), Mason, Kenzlee, Rylie, Keyon (Jaleyah), Kaleah, Kalyce, Haven, Eden, and Justus, as well as her great-great-grandchildren Xander, Xayne, Noah, Anthony, Melah Kathleen, Azzy, Bella, Abigail, and Neolani (Nene). Kathleen is also survived by her sisters, Linda Bowman and Arlene Minton, her sister-in-law Geraldine Robinette, her special cat Betty, and many nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Pansy Church Brown, who laid the foundation for the loving family she cherished.
A funeral service honoring Kathleen's life will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at White Plains Baptist Church in Taylorsville, NC. The service will begin at 2:00 pm, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and the indelible mark she left on each of their hearts. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held after the service and burial. Rev. Ronnie Allen will officiate. Keyon Flowers, Kenzie Huffman, Kelly Bowman, Scott Kerley, Donald Tedder, Wes Stout, and Mason Bruner will serve as pallbearers.
The family will accept flowers.
Kathleen will forever be remembered as a beacon of love, compassion, and unwavering faith. Her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind, enveloping them in warmth and cherished memories.
