Larry Albert Mason

Larry Albert Mason, age 81, passed away surrounded by his family Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at his home in Harmony. He was born to the late D.D. Mason and Marie Patterson Mason on Thursday, August 14, 1942, in Iredell County. During his working career, Mr. Mason worked as correctional officer for 20 years before retiring in 2004 and was also a truck driver and brick mason. Larry was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church. He was a huge fan of NASCAR, old country music, The Eagles, golf, and Carolina Panthers football. He also enjoyed coaching sports, going to his children’s ball games, and cooking for his children. Larry loved being a grandfather.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Claudia Santorum Mason; spouse, TJ Bailey Mason; sister, Sue Ostwalt (David), Nellie Mason; spouse, TJ Bailey Mason, grandson, Sgt. Richard Leighton Smith (USMC), two brothers-in-law, Bobby Peppers, Larry Connolly, and Steve Santorum

Those left to cherish the memories of Larry include his sons, Todd Patrick Mason, Timothy Andrew Mason; daughters, Ursula Marie Mason, Elizabeth Mason Smith (Paul Richard Smith); grandchildren, Sydney Blair Turner (Jordan), Alexander Smith; great-grandchild, Sailor McClelland; sisters, Lillie Marie Peppers, Saleta Connolly, Rita Leazer (Warren); special family including sister-in-law, Candy Gibson; nieces, Toria Terwilliger, Makenna Terwilliger; nephew, Jesse Ostwalt, along with a number of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will conduct a visitation Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Rocky Hill Baptist Church from 11:00 am to 11:30 am. The memorial service will follow Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Rocky Hill Baptist Church at 11:30 am. Inurnment will be with the family.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Lillie Marie Peppers, Joe and Sue Williams, Joan Godfrey and family, Sean and Chasity Turner, and Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
