Lynn Pryor Brockwell

April 9, 1945 — February 27, 2024

We are sad to announce the passing of Lynn Pryor Brockwell, on February 27, 2024, at the age of 78. Lynn passed away at home surrounded by loved ones after his long battle with cancer. He was born in Newport News, Virginia on April 9, 1945, to the late Roger Jackson Brockwell and Pamela Wilkins Custis Brockwell of Hampton, Virginia. Lynn graduated from Hampton High School in 1963 and Christopher Newport College of William and Mary in 1972. Lynn proudly served his country in the Marine Corps from June 1963 to February 1969. He was a captain with the Charlotte Fire Department, serving the public for 25 years. He was also a member of the Wilkinson Blvd Rescue Squad and co-owned his own business as a chimney sweep. Lynn loved to serve God in all aspects of life. He was the founder of the Alexander Prison Ministries and enjoyed working in the Awana program at Mt. Herman Baptist Church of Taylorsville. Lynn was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.

He was preceded in death by many relatives.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Donna Bass Brockwell; daughter and husband Terry; granddaughters, Hollie Quintana and husband Pedro Quintana, Amber Lynn Kartes and husband Kalvin Kartes Jr., and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, March 4, 2024, in the Mt. Herman Baptist Church Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Rev. Paul Schronce and Rev. Dennis Chapman will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or to the charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service.
