Margaret Lauretta Banks Moore

Margaret (Maggie) Moore, age 71, of Maiden, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026.

Maggie was born on April 4, 1955 in Hickory, NC to Esther Bernetta and John Henry Banks. Maggie graduated from Fred T. Foard High School and later followed her calling to care for others, earning her nursing degree from Catawba Valley Community College.

Maggie spent many years serving others as a critical care registered nurse (CCRN) at Frye Regional Medical Center and Iredell Memorial Hospital. Nursing was a natural fit for Maggie. She was strong, compassionate, capable, and willing to step into some of life’s hardest moments to care for people when they needed it most.

But of all the roles Maggie held throughout her life, none meant more to her than being a mother. She loved her daughters fiercely and wholeheartedly, and spending time with her girls was one of her greatest joys.

Maggie had a presence that was impossible to miss. She was full of energy, laughter, and personality and was so often the life of the party. She loved to sing and had a beautiful alto voice. She loved shopping, the beach, being with her family, and simply enjoying life with the people she loved. Those who knew Maggie will remember her unmistakable spirit, her laughter, and the way her energy could fill a room.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bernetta Banks; her brother, Tom Banks; and sister, Carolyn Wilfong.

She is survived by her daughters Heather Cartee (Carl), Holli Jenkins (Brent) and Angie Davis (Joel); her husband, Mike Moore; her sister, Brenda Cooley (Steve); brother-in-law Marvin Wilfong; sister-in-law, Susie Banks, and her beloved grandchildren, Chandler, Colin, Oak, Chase, Carson, Cohen, Ezra, Abe & Ike. She also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, cherished friends and extended family members who loved her dearly.

Maggie’s family will miss so many things about her - her voice, laughter, energy stories and the way she loved the people who belonged to her. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the love she gave so freely will remain a part of her family for generations to come.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 12th from 2pm until 4pm at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Maiden, NC.

In keeping with Maggie’s joyful spirit, this will be a casual, drop-in celebration filled with music, laughter, stories, and memories. Family and friends are invited to come as they are, spend time together, and share the moments they remember and love most about Maggie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County in gratitude for the compassionate care provided during Maggie’s final days
