Mildred Gladys Queen Norton

Mildred Gladys Queen Norton, age 82, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at her home in Alexander County. She was born to the late Stacie and Beulah Estes Queen on Sunday, November 16, 1941, in Iredell County. During her working career, Mrs. Norton worked as a sewer for AlexVale Furniture. Mildred was a member of Wayfound Baptist Church, and she was very involved with her church. She enjoyed her flowers, spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Norton; brothers, Marvin Queen, John Queen, Roy Lee Queen; sisters, Rosalee Elliott, Bertha Frye; granddaughter, Amanda Gail Grainger.

Those left to cherish the memories of Mildred include her daughters, Gail Queen Breeden (Jackie), Rhonda Elliott Wallace (Michael); special friend, Jim Fowler; brother, Henry Queen (Linda); grandchildren, Curtis Wallace (Jessica), Jessie Parson (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Colton Lee Wallace, Hadley LaShae Parson, Briar and Huntley Parson, and Raelynn Wallace.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Wayfound Baptist Church from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Wayfound Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Jim Bowman and Pastor Ken Nelson will officiate. Curtis Wallace, Brandon Parson, Johnathan Queen, Brandon Smith, Tommy Fowler, and Michael Wallace will serve as pallbearers.
