Missy Ann Smith Parson, a beloved member of the Taylorsville community, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Lenoir Health and Rehab in Caldwell County. Born on Tuesday, October 5, 1976, in Wilkes County, she enriched the lives of many with her warm heart and steadfast dedication to her family and friends.
Missy devoted her career to serving others, working in housekeeping at the nursing home and welcoming patrons as a bell greeter at local stores throughout Alexander County. Her kindness and welcoming spirit were evident to all who crossed her path. She cherished spending time with her loved ones, creating countless precious memories that will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Missy was proud to be a member of St. John Baptist Church, where she found a sense of community and belonging.
She is survived by her loving parents, Leavy and Diane Howell Smith; her husband, Marcus Parson; her cherished daughter, Shakyra Smith; and her adoring grandchildren, Nevaeh Smith and Marion Smith. Also mourning her loss is her brother, Franklin Howell.
Missy was preceded in death by her son, Antwan Millsaps, and her maternal grandparents, Rev. Thomas Leon Howell and Margaret Parson Howell.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service, located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681. A funeral service honoring her life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2:00 pm at St. John Baptist Church, located at 224 Quail Hollow Ln, Taylorsville, NC 28681. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Rev. T. E. Martin and Rev. James Ferguson will officiate. Spencer Howell, Mark Howell, Jarvis Howell, Anthony Parsons, Nick Parsons, and Jamarion Parsons will serve as pallbearers. Adrianna Howell, Kiara Howell, Jayla Howell, Keyla Howell, Carrie Haynes, and Allyson Parsons will serve as flower girls.

Missy Ann Smith Parson's legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
