Myrtle Daphne St. Clair Warren

October 19, 1941 — April 24, 2026

Myrtle Daphne St. Clair Warren, born on October 19, 1941, in Alexander County, left this earth to be with Christ her Saviour in Heaven on April 24, 2026, in Catawba County at Trinity Ridge. She lived a full life, marked by love and commitment to God and her family.

Myrtle was what some would call a “pistol” or a “firecracker,” being very much full of life. You always knew where you stood with her, and it was better to be on the good side. She rarely met a stranger and loved meeting people. She worked many careers in life, buttoning down/tufting in furniture, driving a tractor trailer across the country with her husband, driving a school bus in Alexander County, and serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in elder care. Having to leave school early to help her family, she only finished the 9th grade. Late in life, she and her sister decided to finish their GED and also achieve their CNA, both of which she was very proud of. Myrtle’s love extended to her many pets and grand pets throughout her life. Traveling, shopping, square dancing with her husband, playing rook and socializing with her family and friends brought immense joy. She took pride in her rural upbringing in the Brushy Mountains behind her family church, Mt. Hebron Baptist, telling of walking barefoot to church in the summer, or being close to the wood stove in the middle of the church to stay warm in winter. She recalled being baptized in the deep spot of a creek just north of the church and going to Sunday School with her sisters. Being raised poor and simple never bothered her, as she said they never knew any different and it made her tough and thankful. She greatly loved her father and mother, remembering them with great fondness and looking forward to seeing them again in Heaven. She loved her husband through the good and bad times in their 66 years of marriage, and missed him dearly at his death and was ready to be with him again in Glory.

Myrtle is survived by her beloved children, daughter, Vickie Hilton (Rick), her sons, Lynn Warren and Jamie Warren (Jennifer) and her sister, Christine Ruploski. Her legacy continues through her grandsons: Codey Hilton, Casey Hilton, Tyler Warren, and Eli Warren. Her great-grandchildren are Caleb Hilton, Callie Hilton, and Brandon Hilton. Myrtle’s life was further enriched by a loving circle of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Obie and Pattie Bentley St. Clair, her husband Crimmer Eugene Warren, her parents-in-law, Rowe and Lovella McCalpin Warren, and nine brothers and sisters (she being the youngest of the total of eleven).

The family will honor Myrtle's memory with a graveside service to be held on May 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the cemetery of Macedonia Baptist Church, of which she was a dedicated member of over 65 years, located at 63 Macedonia Church Road, Taylorsville, NC 28681. The service will be officiated by Rev. Taylor Pennell.

Myrtle Daphne St. Clair Warren’s life touched many through her spunk, zeal, a legacy of love, and a resilience that will be treasured by all who knew her. Her memory will forever remain a bright light for her family and friends, embodying the strong values and affection she so dearly upheld. A very special thanks to the friends and unofficial family at Trinity Ridge in Hickory, who helped care for and loved Myrtle in her last year here with us. Any memorials should be made to Samaritan’s Purse or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to further the Gospel of the Christ she loved.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service.
