Nana Grace “Gracie” Bumgarner Brown, a cherished member of the Taylorsville community, passed away peacefully at her home in Alexander County on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on Wednesday, December 23, 1942, in Alexander County, Gracie was a dedicated daughter, devoted mother, cherished Nannie.
Gracie was known for her unwavering love and commitment to her family, treasuring every moment spent together. She found immense joy in cooking for her loved ones, always eager to create memories over shared meals. Her warmth extended beyond the kitchen as she devoted her time to recording precious moments of her family and grandchildren, ensuring that their stories were captured and cherished.
A proud member of Lebanon Baptist Church, Gracie also volunteered her time as the secretary for the Little River Ruritan Club II, showcasing her commitment to serving her community. Her passions included reading, gardening, and nurturing flowers, reflecting her gentle spirit and love for nature. She was a mother, friend, and nannie to all.
Gracie leaves behind her loving children: Lisa Brown Parsons (Doug), Rex Alton Brown, and Danny Warren Brown (Patti). She is also survived by her brothers, Del Bumgarner (Helen) and Jimmy Bumgarner, and her sister, Connie Campbell (Bobby). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Eddie Parsons (Deanna Teague), Daniel Parsons (Jennifer), Isaiah Parsons, Christopher Brown, Angel Lindle (Marvin), Chelsea Harrington (Dustin), Payton Brown (Morgan). Gracie was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Jasymn Baker (Brandon), Blaine Parsons, Mason Parsons, Alyvia Parsons, Rowdy Parsons, Austin Parsons, Avery Parsons, Gabriel Hertzog, Liam Lindle, Desmond Lindle, Tesla Lindle, Paysen Harrington, Portlyn Harrington, Hadley Brown, and two great-great-grandchildren, Kinley and Kashtin Baker.
Gracie was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Brown Jr., her parents, Edgar E. and Wave Swaney Bumgarner, along with five brothers, five sisters, and her cherished daughter-in-law, Cyndee Propst Brown, who have all passed before her.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm at Lebanon Baptist Church, located at 167 Lebanon Church Ln, Taylorsville, NC 28681. Following the visitation, a memorial service will take place at 3:00 pm at the same location. Rev. Eddie Jolly will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.
