Naomi Rae Lail Sweet, age 83, a steadfast presence in the lives of many, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at her home in Alexander County. Born on Friday, April 10, 1942, in Catawba County, she was a shining light to all who knew her.
Naomi's enduring love for her family was paramount in her life, and she found immense joy in her role as a grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, and many more great-grandchildren who brought her joy and laughter. She had the unique ability to make each family member feel special and valued, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
She is survived by her children, Mary Lou Keller, Rebecca Keller, and Joey Sweet (Argena Barnette); her brother, Mick Lail; her sister, Dean Craig; and her special son, Eugene Yoder. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of grandchildren, Kimberly Cutler, Crystal Hendren, Tiffany Hendren (Andrew), Buddy Keller, Jake Keller, Koty Sweet, Brittany Louie, Tyler Sweet; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who held a special place in her heart.
With fond memories held dearly, Naomi is predeceased by her parents, William Marvin Lail and Mary Jane Cox Lail, her husband, Harold J. "Bud" Sweet, her son, James Sweet, her grandson, Ashley Sweet, and her brothers, Rick and William Lail. Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Naomi's interests included a deep-rooted passion for following the Atlanta Braves, where she often spent joyful hours cheering on her favorite team. Her vibrant personality and loving spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
