Norma Gail Sigmon Huffman, 90, of Taylorsville, passed away on August 29, 2026, at Trinity Village in Catawba County. She was born on October 23, 1935, in Catawba County to Norman Alexander Sigmon and Alice Ledford Sigmon.
Norma will be remembered as a woman of deep love for her family, her faith, and the many gifts she shared throughout her life. She earned a bachelor’s degree and devoted her working years to education. During her career, she taught art enrichment classes in Alexander County. She loved teaching and later served for many years as a teacher assistant, continuing to encourage and support those around her through patient care and dedication.
Her creative spirit was evident in the many things she enjoyed. Norma loved arts and crafts, especially when sharing those moments with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and painting, and music held an important place in her life as she loved to sing and to play the organ and piano. She also enjoyed working in her darkroom making photos. A faithful member of Shiloh Lutheran Church, she loved her church family and the fellowship she found there. Above all, she loved and cherished her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby “Bob” Huffman, Sr.; her parents, Norman Alexander Sigmon and Alice Ledford Sigmon; her brother, Stuart Sigmon; her sisters, Julia McLean and Martha S. Starnes; and her grandson, Jason Huffman.
Norma leaves behind a large and loving family who will continue to carry her memory forward. She is survived by her sons Bobby Huffman, Jr. and his wife, Sandra, Jimmy Huffman and his partner, Cindy Burkett, Wesley Huffman and his partner, Marie Sloan, Mark Huffman and his wife, Donna, and Robbie Huffman and his wife, Tina. Her memory will also be treasured by her grandchildren, Cynthia Huffman Corrales and her husband, Richard, Richard Huffman, Alisha Huffman, Jimmy Huffman, Jr., Rebecca Cobbler, Alex Huffman and his wife, Amber, Kyle Huffman and his wife, Lindsey, Derek Huffman and his wife, Ashlei, Christin Sigmon and her husband, Chris, Joshua Huffman, and Lydia Mullins and her husband, Caleb. She is also survived by step-grandchildren Jeremy Godfrey and his wife, Holly, Josh Godfrey and his wife, Lindsay, and Nikki Drake.
Norma’s legacy extends through her great-grandchildren Preston Huffman, Greyson Huffman, Jack Corrales, Alivia Huffman, Cooper Huffman, Grant Huffman, Scout Huffman, Saylor Huffman, Chloe Huffman, Caydence Huffman, Lyla Huffman, Mason Huffman, Loic Sigmon, Bexley Sigmon, and Oliver Mullins, as well as her step-great-grandchildren Jackson, Colton, Jacob, Mikala, Kennedi, and Addilyn. Surrounded by so many generations of family, her life was a blessing that reached far beyond herself, and her love will remain a lasting comfort to all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 2:30 pm until 3:45 pm at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Parish Hall, 1011 Shiloh Church Road, Hickory, North Carolina 28601. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the Sanctuary. Burial will also take place at Shiloh Lutheran Church. Rev. C. Jason Sigmon will officiate. Her grandsons, Richard Huffman, Kyle Huffman, Derek Huffman, Alex Huffman, Jimmy Huffman, Jr., and Joshua Huffman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Richard Corrales.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shiloh Lutheran Church, 1011 Shilo Church Road, Hickory, NC 28601.
