Patricia Ruth Hawkins Foy, age 91, born on Sunday, March 26, 1933, in Guilford County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House in Iredell. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend whose profound impact on her community will be cherished by all who knew her.

Ruth dedicated over 40 years of her life as the music director at New Sterling ARP Church, bringing joy and inspiration through her keen musical talents. In addition to her role in church music, she taught voice and piano for over 60 years, nurturing countless students with her passion for music. Ruth also had a successful career as a real estate agent and interior designer. For over 20 years, she was the owner-operator of Ruth's Flowers, where her love for flowers led to remarkable creations that brightened many occasions. She served as the youth music director, choir director, and secretary at Stony Point Baptist Church for a decade, further enriching her community with her unwavering spirit. Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church, where her faith and commitment were evident to those around her. An avid flower gardener, she found joy in nurturing her garden, which reflected her vibrant personality.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Laura Lail (Bobby); her cherished sons, Mark Foy (Gina) and Peter Foy (Jacqueline); and her adored grandchildren, Lauren (Jamie), Alek (Elizabeth), Carly, Addi (Cole), Claire (Ryan), and Alexis. Additionally, Ruth had special relationships with her nieces, Erika Reid and Ann Starnette, and maintained a treasured friendship with Diane Sprinkle.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Bertha Spencer Hawkins; her husband of 67 years, Gene Foy; and siblings, Ray Hawkins and Kay Hawkins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 2:30 pm to 3:45 pm at First Baptist Church, located at 321 West Main Avenue, Township of Taylorsville, NC 28681. A memorial service will follow, beginning at 4:00 pm. Inurnment will be in the Stony Point Cemetery. Pastor Scott Hinson and Pastor Earl Linderman will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the hospice of your choice or to First Baptist Church, 321 West Main Ave, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

The legacy of Ruth Foy will endure through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched with her love, kindness, and immeasurable talents. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her.
