Peggy Tevepaugh Johnson

Peggy Tevepaugh Johnson, age 86, born March 26, 1940, passed away on October 2, 2026. She will be remembered with love for her devotion to her family, her faithful life, and the steady kindness she shared with those around her.

Peggy was a member and very faithful at Mt. Wesley Wesleyan Church, a place that was an important part of her life. She also found joy in simple and meaningful pleasures, including working puzzles, reading—especially mysteries—and cooking for her family. Those who knew her will remember the care she expressed in these everyday acts, and the warmth she brought to the people she loved.

Family was at the heart of Peggy’s life. She is survived by her sons, Marty Johnson and his wife Denise, and Roger Johnson and his wife Lisa; her daughter, Gail Harrington and her husband Ken; her brother, David Tevepaugh and his wife Wanda; her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Diane Southard; and Mark Sharpe, her special son, and his wife Beverly. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Garrett Harrington, Kristie Turner and her husband Daniel, Megan Johnson, Will Johnson, Darlene Spencer, Nancy Childers, and Linda Childers, as well as nine great-grandchildren. Peggy is also survived by five nieces and one nephew. She leaves a family circle that carries forward her memory with gratitude and love.

She was preceded in death by her father, David “Glenn” Tevepaugh, and her mother, Zula Bowles Tevepaugh; by her husband of 55 years, William “Tommy” Johnson; by her infant son, William Glenn Johnson; by her son, Ricky Southard; by her sisters, Judy T. James and Margaret T. Watts; by her brother, Gary Elder; and by her granddaughter, Kendra Harrington. Their memories remained part of her life and story, and she is now reunited with those who went before her.

Visitation for Peggy Johnson will be held on Tuesday October 6, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Mt. Wesley Wesleyan Church, 403 Mount Wesley Church Road, Hiddenite, North Carolina 28636. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Eric Yelton, Pastor Josh Edward, and Rev. Mark Sharpe will officiate. Garrett Harrington, Will Johnson, Michael Brown, Daniel Turner, Cody Warren, Rodney Barnes will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Brown and Charles Tevepaugh. Burial will follow at Taylorsville City Cemetery, 537 1st Avenue Drive Southeast, Township of Taylorsville, North Carolina 28681.

Peggy Tevepaugh Johnson’s life was marked by faith, family, and loving service to others. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
