Peggy Ann Martin 83, of Dallas, Texas died May 30, 2025. She was born on December 23, 1941, in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Elmar C. and Margaret Andrews Martin.
Peggy moved to Dallas in 1959 to attend SMU where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts, her teaching certificate, and her master’s degree.
Peggy was a devoted teacher who taught in the Dallas Independent School district for over 30 years, first at James Bonham Elementary and later at Dan D. Rogers Elementary teaching Art and fourth grade.
Peggy was also very active at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church where she attended Bible studies, served on boards, and helped with events.
Peggy was an avid sports fan keeping up with all the major sports, both collegiate and professional. Her favorites being Tennessee, SMU, Duke, and Texas Rangers.
Diagnosed with Parkinsons over 12 years ago she handled that disease as she did life, with a smile and a drive that never allowed the disease to win.
Peggy moved to Hickory, North Carolina in 2023 to be closer to her family.
Peggy had a caring heart that she shared with everyone, a deep love of animals, especially cats, and a steadfast loyalty to her friends and family.
Peggy is survived by her brother Larry B. Martin and his wife Jane, her niece Hope M. Wike, her husband Kyle and their three children, her niece Margaret L. Martin and her two children, and her cat Georgie.
Peggy will be missed and remembered by all her family, friends, and those lucky enough to have known her.
Peggy will be buried in Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, Tennessee, next to her parents on June 5, 2025.
