Phil Carson Lackey

March 20, 1932 — March 5, 2026

Phil Carson Lackey, age 93, born on March 20, 1932, and a beloved figure in his community, passed away peacefully at his home in Taylorsville on March 5, 2026. A proud Army veteran, Phil dedicated much of his life to serving both his country and his community. He was the owner and operator of Ideal Frame for over 60 years, where his craftsmanship and dedication earned him a loyal following.

Phil was a member of First Baptist Church. His spirit was not only nurtured by his professional accomplishments but also by the joys he found in life. Phil had a profound love for the beach, fishing, golfing, and shuffleboard. He cherished the time spent with friends and family, often inventing, fixing, and tinkering on various projects that showcased his creativity and resourcefulness.

He is survived by his loving spouse Ruth Deal-Lackey, with whom he shared 23 cherished years. Phil was the proud father of son Billy Lackey (Dot) and daughter Karla Watts (Frankie). His legacy continues through his sister Sandy Cook (Ed) and his grandchildren, Abbie Stafford (Brandon) and Ryan Richardson, who brought immense joy to his life. Phil also delighted in the laughter and love of his great-grandchildren: Kaseyn Stafford, Brayleigh Richardson, Kamryn Stafford, Kortlyn Stafford, and Kohen Richardson.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Carson Lackey and Corrie Estelle Lackey, his first wife, Francis "Darleen" Andrew Lackey, as well as his brother Harry Lackey, his sister Bobbie Lackey, and his great-granddaughter, Karsyn Stafford.

Friends and community members are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on March 8, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:30 PM, both held at Mt Hebron Baptist Church, located at 17 Mt Hebron Church Ct, Taylorsville, NC 28681. Rev. James Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Mecimore, Kaseyn Stafford, Phil Whitaker, Brandon Caudle, Frankie Watts, and Ryan Richardson.
